Access Statement for No.24. B&B Guest Accommodation. 24, Croft Road, Godalming, Surrey GU7 1BY


No 24 - a turn of the century townhouse - has recently undergone a complete refurbishment. Our aim was simple: to provide a 'modern' take on the traditional Bed and Breakfast. The result is contemporary, stylish and affordable. All rooms are ensuite and decorated in soft shades and neutral tones.

Aimed at both the business and leisure traveller, we offer the facilities you really need - all our rooms have free wifi access, digital tv, room safe, mini-fridge, hairdryer, tea & coffee making facilities, a large comfortable bed and fluffy towels.

No 24 is situated in a quiet residential street, yet only a few minutes walk from Godalming's picturesque High Street with its fantastic choice of restaurants, cafes, bars and historic pubs.

However, because No 24 is situated on the side of a hill, we are effectively on 4 floors, with our accommodation on Ground, First and Second Floors, and our Breakfast Room on the Lower Ground Floor. This may be problematic to customers with mobility issues or disabilities.


  • No24 is situated on a level residential street. There is parking for 2 cars on the hardstanding immediately to the front of the property. This is available on a 'first come, first served' basis. There are 2 public carparks within a 3 minute walk of the B&B.
  • The mainline station is a 10 minute walk away, and Godalming's picturesque High Street is a 3 minute walk away. However, please note, No24 is situated on a hill above the High Street, and so routes to and from the High Street and thence onto the Station involve walking uphill.
  • There are local taxis that operate from the Station forecourt, and we are more than happy to book taxis from our end.
  • Godalming's mainline station has fast connections to Guildford (10 minutes), London Waterloo (40 minutes) and Portsmouth (30 minutes).
  • On the roads, the local A3 will get you to Junction 10 on the M25 in around 20 minutes.
  • London's Gatwick & Heathrow airports are both accessible via the M25 with journey times to both of around 45 minutes.

  • We do not allow pets.
  • Although we have no Family Rooms, children and babies are welcome. We can provide a Travel Cot, Booster Seat, and a microwave in the Breakfast Room for heating up milk/babyfood.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • We have 2 parking spaces immediately to the front of the property; otherwise, if these are not available, you can unload, and we can direct you to one of the nearby car parks.
  • It would be useful if you can advise us of your anticipated arrival time, especially if it is going to be late evening.
  • We can assist guests with luggage.
  • Check in time is after 2.00pm, although in certain circumstances we can arrange to accommodate an earlier arrival time.

Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area

  • Access from the road/pavement is a short level 4 metres. The front door is kept locked and has one step up of 15cm. The door width is 77cm.
  • Guests are given their own front door key to come and go as they wish. There are 2 door bells; one to No24 and a bell/video access button which links through to our home next door at No22. We ask guests to ring both bells. The height of the door bells is 153cm from the ground.
  • The front door leads directly to the Hall which has stripped pine flooring and measures c. 4.4metres long by 109cm.

Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc

  • The Hall from the front door leads through to 2 sets of stairs which are carpeted. The left hand goes up to the bedrooms on the First & Second Floors, and the right hand stairs goes down to the Breakfast Rooms, Conservatory and Courtyard Garden.
  • The down stairs consist of 1 step down to a landing and a further flight of 8 steps of 17cm height x 80cm width x 24cm depth.
  • The up stairs consist of a flight of 9 steps, small landing and a further 5 steps all of 20cm height x 80cm width x 24cm depth.
  • Bedrooms 1 & 2 lead off from the Hall on the right hand side.
  • There is a Payphone and fire extinguishers adjacent to Room 2's door.
  • The Fire Alarm control panel is situated in the wall just inside the Front Door. It has instructions for disarming and resetting the alarm.

Public Areas - Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc

  • We keep access to the Breakfast Room, Conservatory and Courtyard Garden open in the evenings. We provide a microwave for guests to use, and there is a digital TV, as well as free wifi access should business guests wish to work at a table, hold an informal meeting, or simply eat their take away meals.
  • The Garden Courtyard has table and chairs for guests use if the weather is amenable; access is through the Conservatory's sliding door. Smoking is permitted in the Courtyard Garden, and there is a cigarette-butt disposal facility next to the shed.
  • As we are only providing B&B guest accommodation,we regret we have no lounge or sitting room.

Public WCs

  • There is a small WC facility available for the use of guests, just before the entrance to the Breakfast Room. The width of the WC door is 53cm, but please note the height of the door is only 181cm. The general floor space of the room is around 64cm wide x 186cm long. Please note, the WC also houses the main boiler and water tank.

Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Bar area, Take Away & Cafe

  • The Breakfast Room is situated on the Lower Ground Floor.
  • Breakfast is served between 7.30 - 8.30am week days, and 8.30 - 10.00am weekends.
  • There is a choice of continental and/or cooked breakfasts. Special dietry requirements can be catered for if we are told in advanced .
  • There is a small step down into the Breakfast Room measuring 12cm; this is indicated by a yellow 'hazard' awareness line.
  • There are 4 cafe-style tables in the Breakfast Room (these have a central support and the table height is 71cm). They can be moved around to accommodate 2 guests or 4 guests per table.
  • There are a further 2 cafe-style tables in the adjoining Conservatory which is accessed from the Breakfast Room through a glazed door (kept permanently open) and down a small 14cm step. There is one small square table with four corner legs, accommodating 2 guests, and a larger round table with a central support which can accommodate 4 guests. The table heights are 71cm.
  • There is a TV which can be used at the guests' request, as well as ceiling speakers with access to the radio, if required.
  • Access to the adjacent kitchen is by means of 2 double doors. However, guests are asked not to enter the kitchen, unless they have been specifically invited in so they can use the Credit Card PDQ machine.
  • The use of the Breakfast Room during the day/evening has already been covered in the previous 'Public Areas Sitting Room.. etc' section.
  • Menus are on the table, and food is cooked to order. Fruit, cereal and yoghurts are available from the Breakfast Bar on a self service basis.


  • The Laundry Room is adjacent to the Breakfast Room and is not accessible to guests.
  • A laundry service is not available for guests; however there is an iron and ironing board available for the use of guests. This would be set up in the Breakfast Room.

  • The local Sainsburys and Waitrose superstores are both nearby; Waitrose is a 5 minute walk at the top of the High Street, and Sainsburys is a 10 minute walk.
  • There is a local convenience store in the High Street.

  • Rooms 1 - 5 . General Information
    • All rooms are en suite with shower, heated towel rail/radiator, basin, wc, bath and hand towels bath mat & toiletries. All rooms have low double beds, duvet and 2 sets of pillows, free wifi access, digital tv, safe, mini fridge, tea & coffee making facilities, hair dryer, shaving socket, light dimmer switch, thermostatically controlled radiator, bedside cabinet and bedside light, wooden venetian window blinds, double glazed windows, short-pile carpet, small table & chair.
    • All doors to rooms and shower rooms are 72cm wide.
    • All shower trays are 28cm above floor level.
    • All beds are 36cm from floor level to top of mattress.
